I heard a story today about a young man who was working with his grandpa laying bricks.
He was 15.
His grandpa was 80.
When they took their morning break for tea, as they were in England, he sat there frustrated and discouraged. That’s when he asked his grandpa “did you still think you’d be doing this at your age?”
Instead of taking offense and slapping his grandson, he brought the cup down from his lips and without looking at him, he simply said “quit today or you’ll be me tomorrow.”
Powerful words.
The kid was Steve Sims, author of the book Bluefishing: The Art of Making Things Happen. And I believe he quit laying bricks two days later.
Watch the interview Mike Searles, aka The Comeback Coach did with him below. And then grab his book. And then start making things happen in your life if there are things you keep putting off for the right time. I know there is.
The right time isn’t ever going to happen. I want you to know that. The right time is when you decide to take action.
You decide what you want. You’ll be able to figure out how you’re going to make it happen along the way. But you have to take that first step, first.
